Cutting Board

The wood I used is wenge (the dark wood), basswood (the light colored wood), and Padauk (the red wood.)
Glue. I used Titebond type III because its waterproof.
Sealant. I used Butcher Block Conditioner. Its available at Woodcraft or on Amazon, and I'm sure more places.
Tools. I used a table saw, planer, router and router table, and sand paper.

Nice job. Cutting boards will be my first project. Isn't basswood soft? Or not as dense so easily marked?

We got the wood at a "Hardwood Store." My wife picked it out. Basswood isn't the hardest of woods but I hope it will be okay. I just looked up basswood. It has a 410 value on the Janka hardness scale. It's considered a hardwood, but just barely. My wife had me make these as Christmas presents for my two sister-in-laws. It's possible I'll have to make two more next year, maybe I'll use maple. This was my first foray into cutting boards and the use of hardwood. Live and learn.

Also, I am going to see if I can finish all my wood projects with hemp oil. It should be fantastic except when you need uv protection. Then I will use tung oil. Though nothing wrong with a weathered look

I have never used hemp oil. The only consideration with cutting boards is the sealant has to be food safe.

Right. Hemp oil is food safe, while tung oil for outdoor nonfoods stuff
