just gloss to kinda help preserve the life and bark..if u know of another way to do it please inform me

I would think thin polyurethane based oil. That's what you used?

I used rustoleum wood gloss

as far as the top goes, the buyer didn't want anything done to it because he said he wanted to do something, so I just sanded it and sold it off for $150
