The wheels came from a kid's bike we bought on craigslist for $10. We kept the remainder of the bike for later use once the balance bike is outgrown. Bushings and connecting bolts for the frame came from a big box hardware store.

Man that's a great idea. My baby has 13 months and the bike we've got is for 18 months I think. Will try to build something for him to use now!

Those wheels are perfect. You don't even have to worry about the gears in the back.

Would it be possible to get a set of the plans e mailed or even mailed to me. I need to do this for my son. Building him a balance bike over buying one. That's those little yet significant memories parenthood is about. I'm willing to pay for the plans. Please let me know!
